A family firm that grew up in these gardens
Greenline started with one van, one saw and word of mouth around Stanmore. Nine years on the crew is bigger and the kit is better, but the way we work has not changed.
Craig started Greenline in 2016 after a decade climbing for other outfits and getting tired of jobs being rushed to hit a day rate.
The idea was simple: quote properly, turn up when you say you will, and leave a garden looking like nobody had been in it apart from the tree being gone. That is still what the business runs on. Most of our work now comes from customers who have seen us in a neighbour's garden and walked over to ask.
We are a small crew and it stays that way deliberately. Craig prices every job himself, so the person who quotes is the person who turns up. That is also why we can answer the phone at ten at night when a limb comes down across a driveway — there is no call centre in between.
Alongside tree surgery we take on the property side too: hedge maintenance rounds, garden clearance, fencing, roof moss removal and lawn care. Plenty of customers who first called about a tree now have us back twice a year for everything else.
Work is carried out to BS3998 and every operative is NPTC certified. We check the council record for Tree Preservation Orders and conservation area status before we quote, and we handle the paperwork if consent is needed. It is not glamorous, but it is the part that stops a job going wrong.

- £5m public liability, employers' liability, NPTC-certified saw and aerial rescue tickets, registered waste carrier. Documents supplied with every quote.
- Straight answers on price
- Fixed written quotes. If we find something on the day that changes the job, we stop and talk to you before doing anything that costs more.
